METHOD FOR INPUTTING JAPANESE IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION DEVICE AND APPRATUS THERETO

A method and an apparatus for inputting Japanese are presented to enable to input Japanese instinctively and rapidly and conveniently, by inputting a corresponding step sequentially after inputting a row of Japanese letters in advance. According to a method for inputting Japanese of a portable terminal, an input standby state is maintained by locating a cursor at a position to input characters, in order to input new Japanese characters(S100). The input standby state is changed into a step input standby state capable of canceling row input by pushing a cancel button or inputting characters by pushing a number input button if the user selects the number input button in the input standby state(S200). If the user pushes the number input button, the step input standby state is changed into a confirmed standby state capable of confirming a corresponding character finally or canceling step input(S300). If the user pushes number input button, * button or # button except the cancel button in the confirmed standby state, the character is finally confirmed after a constant time(S400).
