A method for deciding car position by pseudo dead reckoning and car navigation system using the same is provided to determine the current position of a vehicle and represent accurately the position by correcting GPS coordinate and digital map without a gyroscope or a speed sensor. A method for deciding car position by pseudo dead reckoning and car navigation system using the same comprises a step of obtaining GPS coordinate from a GPS receiver(S31); a step of calculating a map coordinate obtained by substituting the GPS coordinate with a digital map(S33); a step of calculating matching coordinate based on a vehicle moving information from the prior vehicle coordinate(S35); a step of analyzing reliability about the GPS coordinate and the matching coordinate(S34); a step of calculating a corrected coordinate within range of zone connecting GPS coordinate, map coordinate, and a matching coordinate(S36); and a step of determining a map coordinate obtained by substituting the corrected coordinate into a digital map as the current vehicle coordinate(S37).
