METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR QUERY BY SINGING/HUMING

A method of a query by singing and humming and an apparatus thereof capable of singing a part of a song are provided to allow a user to search a song by singing and humming in music database in bulk. A multi chord template sequence generating unit(210) extracts a musical note sequence from the main melody to the predetermined frame shift for producing a multi-poly frame level melody template sequence. A multi chord query sequence generating unit(220) extracts a musical note sequence from a query melody contour for generating the multi chord query sequence. A distance value calculation unit(230) calculates distance between the sequence of the multi-chord frame level quality outputted from the sequence generation part of the multi-chord quality and the multi-poly frame level melody template sequence outputted from the multi-chord template sequence generation unit. An output unit(240) determines whether the distance value outputted from the distance value calculation unit is less than the predetermined critical value.
