A method for controlling channel access in a repeater node of a multi-hop network, and a repeater in a multi-hop network system are provided to increase the throughput performance of an entire network by performing a back-off process after updating a minimum competition window value of the repeater node according to traffic transfer ability in each repeater node. A variable width of CWmini(Minimum Competition Window) is obtained by using the number of measured receiving packets, the number of measured transmitting packets and predetermined setup values(S430). By uniting the CWmini that A current repeater node uses with the variable width of the CWmini, a CWmini in ith repeater node is calculated(S440). Back-off time is obtained by using the calculated CWmini, and a channel access control operation is performed by adopting a back-off algorithm(S450).
