A multimedia apparatus to support many languages and a method for providing a user interface to support many languages are provided to determine a function of an instruction according to a reading direction of language, thereby enabling a user to conveniently use a multi language supporting multimedia apparatus. An input unit(170) receives an operation from a user. The input unit transfers the operation to a controller(160). The controller determines a function of an instruction inputted by the user according to a reading direction of set language. The controller determines a function of the inputted instruction according to a display direction of a GUI.
