An IPTV receiver and a resource acquisition method for an IPTV service are provided to efficiently search and obtain an IPTV service, thereby quickly and exactly updating information on the IPTV service. An ITF finds out an SD server(S1300). The ITF obtains a service provider discovery record from the SD server(S1310). The ITF calculates service provider identifier information included in a service provider ID attribute, by parsing the service provider ID attribute of the service provider discovery record(S1320). The ITF confirms whether the calculated service provider identifier information is a service provider that wants to receive a service(S1330). If so, the ITF calculates detailed text descriptive information on a service provider included in a description attribute(S1340).
