PURPOSE: A method for triggering an algorithm for minimizing delay of hard handoff by a pilot beacon in a cdma 2000 1xev-do system, and a system thereof are provided to minimize deterioration of communication quality by hard handoff to a 1xEV-DO Rev.0 base station from a 1xEV-DO Rev.A base station. CONSTITUTION: A method for triggering an algorithm for minimizing delay of hard handoff by a pilot beacon in a cdma 2000 1xev-do system comprises the following steps. FA information of a source Rev.A base station is transmitted from a target Rev.0 base station to a terminal by a beacon(S1). When the Rev.A base station designated as a boundary cell receives a route update message for handoff from the terminal, the system triggers a hard handoff delay minimizing algorithm based on PN included in the route update message and PN of the target base station which is requested for handoff(S6).
