A method for increasing the concentration of free calcium in food, and the food whose calcium content is increased by the method are provided to promote the absorption of soluble phosphoric acid and calcium. A method for increasing the concentration of free calcium in food comprises the step of adding beta-propeller phytase as an enzyme to food. Preferably the food contains calcium inositol 6. The food is made by using cereal, preferably beans. The beta-propeller phytase is derived from microorganism, preferably the microorganism of Bacillus sp.
