An intra mode prediction value calculator based on group operations and an intra mode predictor using the same are provided to reduce an operation time of the intra mode prediction pixel value for intra mode prediction, thereby reducing the entire intra mode prediction time. A first step operating unit(610) groups and outputs an intra mode prediction value with N2 pixels inside an N X N pixel block into N2-1 lower operation units. N is an integer larger than 3. The first step operating unit outputs N2-1 lower operation units. A second step operating unit(650) operates and outputs an intra mode pixel prediction value with regard to a part or all among N2 pixels by using the sum of at least two lower operation units among the N2-1 lower operation units.
