Starfish Extract with Suppression of Cell Mutation by Ultraviolet lay and Extracting Process thereof

An extract of starfish obtained by irradiation is provided to inhibit or prevent programmed cell death, cell membrane mutation, cell division stop, and DNA mutation caused by exposure to UV rays, thereby being medically or pharmaceutically applicable. A method for preparing an extract of starfish comprises the steps of: (a) powderizing starfish; (b) applying radiation with the intensity of 10-300 KGv to the starfish powder; and (c) centrifuging the radiated starfish powder to obtain a precipitate extract. A starfish extract obtained by applying radiation to starfish powder is characterized it that it is able to suppress cell mutation by UV rays. Further, a strength of the radiation in the step (b) is 10 to 300 KGy.
