A method for extracting an active ingredient capable of inhibiting the cell mutation due to UV rays from Lonicera japonica, an extract of Lonicera japonica, and a composition containing the extract are provided to improve the yield of the active ingredient. A method for extracting an active ingredient capable of inhibiting the cell mutation due to UV rays from Lonicera japonica comprises the steps of (S102) cutting Lonicera japonica; (S104) putting the cut Lonicera japonica in water and extracting it with hot water; and (S106) centrifuging the suspension obtained by the hot water extraction to obtain a precipitated extract.
