A disaster occurrence sensing method using a satellite navigation system and an apparatus therefore are provided to minimize a loss of forests and lives due to occurrence of disaster by grasping rapidly and correctly the position and kind of the disaster by using the satellite navigation system. A disaster occurrence sensing process is performed transmit a signal from a sensing unit to a GPS(Global Positioning System). A disaster occurrence notification process is performed to notify a state of disaster occurrence to a program operating PC for operating a central disaster prevention system in order to monitor virtually a disaster place. A disaster kind sensing process is performed to sense the kind of the disaster as a fire or an accident by using the program operating PC. The central disaster prevention system notifies the kind of the disaster and the disaster place to a local disaster prevention center near to the disaster place in order to minimize a loss due to the disaster.
