An object description method for the 3D(Dimensional) stereoscopic video service based on DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), a method for receiving the 3D stereoscopic video service and a method for converting the image format according to the object description method are provided to minimize the bandwidth needed to the 3D stereoscopic video service without deterioration of the image quality. A process for setting a broadcasting type within an object descriptor(20) relating to the reference image whether a broadcasting service is 2D broadcasting or 3D broadcasting is performed. The reference image(21) and depth information(22) relating to the 3D stereoscopic image as an object of the broadcasting service are described by one object descriptor. In the process for setting the broadcasting type, the broadcasting type is defined by the contents type descriptor. In the object description process, the ESD(Elementary Stream Descriptor)s relating to the reference image and the depth information are constructed by the same OD(Object Descriptor) as the relation between master and servant.
