Organic thin film display device having a cholesteric liquid crystal layer

An organic thin film display device including a cholesteric liquid crystal layer is provided to improve brightness and contrast by preventing the loss of the light emitted from an organic EL(Electro-Luminescent) panel. An organic thin-film display device includes an organic EL panel(10), a cholesteric liquid crystal layer(11), a lambda/4 phase delay layer(12) and a polarization film(13). The cholesteric liquid crystal layer is arranged between the organic EL panel and the lambda/4 phase delay layer. The cholesteric liquid crystal layer has a circular polarization separation function. The cholesteric liquid crystal layer selectively reflects the only circular polarization having a predetermined wavelength and a rotation direction. The lambda/4 phase delay layer converts the circular polarization into the linear polarization. The light emitted from the organic EL panel passes through the cholesteric liquid crystal layer, the lambda/4 phase delay layer and the polarization film.
