FIELD: information technologies.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-density write-once optical disk and in particular to method and device for recording management data on optical disk. Disk consists of at least one recording layer, a quantity of temporary defect management areas (TDMA) on at least one mentioned recording layer and a quantity of defect management areas (DMA) on at least one mentioned recording layer. At least one of the mentioned TDMA comprises first and second indicators. First indicator specifies which TDMA is in use and second indicator specifies if medium is secure.;EFFECT: identification data of used TDMA and management information are quickly obtained and this increases write-once optical disk efficiency.;31 cl, 17 dwg
