Nitrogen fertilizer is produced by heating waste product to 40-90[deg]C under reduced pressure to produce gas containing carbon dioxide and ammonia, cooling gas, contacting gas with aqueous absorbent, withdrawing resulting nitrogen fertilizer and recycling unabsorbed gas. The reduced pressure is initially generated by vacuum pump and then maintained autogenously during process. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for carrying out the process, comprising a stripper vessel (1) for heating under reduced pressure, an absorption vessel (2), a heat accumulator (3) for heat exchange, a vacuum pump (4), a hot water pump (5), a circulating pump (6) and a stirrer (7).
