A list of multiple danger points (14) is completed on a rail vehicle (8) with a reference image captured for each danger spot. A transmitting unit (20) on a rail-track route (18) transfers an identification mark (ID) for an imminent danger spot to an approaching rail vehicle. Using the transferred identification mark loads a reference image from the list and compares it with an actual image of the danger spot captured by an image-capture device (16) on the rail vehicle and/or at the danger spot.
