The method involves detecting an actual monitoring region (10) of a monitoring device i.e. monitoring camera system (1). Information describing the actual monitoring region is provided and transferred to a person (11) who is near or within the monitoring region. A notification of the person takes place during overlapping or falling below of a minimum distance between the positions of the person and the monitoring region. Detailed information about type and range of data detected by the monitoring device is wirelessly transmitted. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting and identification of a monitoring device.
