The device has a multipart housing with an inlet opening (14) for a gaseous medium i.e. steam, where the opening guides the gaseous medium across a channel (13) formed in a housing part (1) to an indicator chamber (32). A detector i.e. chemical-physical indicator, is arranged in the chamber to provide information about a sterilization process. The channel is designed as a groove, and is closable by a seal (3) such that an end area of the channel is connected with the indicator chamber via a passage opening (31) of the seal, where the channel is designed in a meander shape or spiral shape.
