The method involves rotating a material web roll, and drawing a material web e.g. paper web (2), on the roll. A separation chemical e.g. talcum powder, is arranged between adjacent material web layers. The chemical is applied on a side of the approaching material web that comes in contact with an outer circumference of the material web roller. The chemical is applied by a humidification mechanism e.g. nozzle-humidifier, and atomized by using an atomization gas e.g. air or steam. The separation chemical is provided as amphoteric or cationic polymer dispersion.
