The sensor (10) has measurement mediums (12, 14) with magnetic poles arranged in series in a longitudinal direction (26). Magnetic field sensors (20, 22) exhibit internal pole partitions for suppressing sensitivity against magnetic interference fields, where the internal pole partitions are adjusted to pole partitions of the respective measurement mediums. The magnetic field sensor (22) is arranged in an angle to a longitudinal axis (24) of the measurement medium (14). The magnetic field sensors sample magnetic fields of the measurement mediums. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a position of a magnetic field sensor device in longitudinal direction.
