The shaft has a sensor unit (3) for detecting a relative rotation of a section (6) of shaft, and a transmitter unit (4) suspended on the section by an adhesive medium that is hardened by UV-light. The section forms an axial shoulder (10), and the transmitter unit lies axial to a tapered collar (9) at the shoulder. An annular gap between an inner peripheral surface of the collar and an outer peripheral surface area of the section is accessible for a radiation with UV-light, after the suspension of transmitter unit. The medium is accumulated in the gap, near the suspension of transmitter unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a sensor unit at a steering shaft.
