The method involves welding a longitudinal seam by a welding device (4). Tensioning devices (6,7,8) are provided with two clamping jaws, which are pressed against a tube section (5). Three clamp strips are provided as clamping jaws, which are attached to the tube section and distributed at pipe periphery side. An independent claim is also included for a device for manufacturing pipes made of thin-walled material.
