The method involves presenting a view of an object to an observer in the form of overlapping images for each eye (3,4) of the observer by a stereoscopic projection system. A spatial image of the object is produced with a spatial depth impression, which is aligned permanently on changing viewing conditions. The convergence distance (7) is changed, such that the intersection point of convergence and accommodation of the eye corresponds. An independent claim is also included for a device for ergonomic representation of a spatial depth of objects in virtual environments.
