Charged-air mass flow calculating method for intake pipe of e.g. diesel engine, involves detecting speed of turbine using speed sensor, and calculating effective charge-air mass flow in intake pipe using speed and compression ratio
The method involves metrologically detecting the speed of a turbine of a turbocharger using a speed sensor. The compression ratio is calculated at a supercharger (1) that is arranged in an intake pipe (2) of an internal combustion engine by dividing the pressure (P3) at an outlet of the supercharger by the pressure (P2) at an inlet of the supercharger. The intake pipe is supplied with fresh air and/or fresh air-fuel mixture for maintenance of cylinders of the engine. The effective charged-air mass flow is calculated using the metrologically detected speed and the calculated compression ratio.
