The method involves determining fatigue-relevant parameters for each driver by a fatigue determination device (14). The fatigue-relevant parameters of each driver are conveyed to an electronic planning device (16) by a transmission device (1, 18b). The usage of the drivers for the predetermined routes is planned by the planning device based on the conveyed fatigue-relevant parameters of the drivers. Personal data and/or sensor-determined influencing variables and/or sensor-determined fatigue indicators are considered when determining the fatigue-relevant parameters of the drivers. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an operational planning system for planning of using a set of drivers in a set of vehicle for travel in predetermined route (2) an application of an on-board unit of a toll system in a vehicle for determining and transferring fatigue-relevant parameters of the driver to a planning device.
