The method involves specifying a starting point i.e. current standpoint of vehicle, of a journey, a target point of the journey and an index (1). A travel plan is automatically determined between the starting point and the target point based on the index, where the index indicates an extent to which conservation of global resources is considered by a driver (9) of a vehicle (10) according to individual needs of the driver towards the travel plan and specifies a percentage at which the overall resources are preserved in the travel plan. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for determining a travel plan for a vehicle (2) an overall system comprising a vehicle.
