The hob has heatable cooking appliances (3) including a cooking surface (2) of a cooking surface plate (1) that is limited edge-laterally by a broad skirt (5) and a lateral skirt (6). The skirts are connected with a material of the plate and are adjoined at the cooking surface in flush manner without overlapping an upper surface of the cooking surface. The skirts negligibly protrude below the upper surface with peripheral boundaries. The strip (5) is formed as a functional panel including display and operating elements. The hob is formed from ceramic glass or other similar material.
