In the production of an internal combustion motor a mathematical model is prepared in advance for the friction between the pistons and the cylinder walls and the contour changes between the friction surfaces are computed for different working temperatures. The pistons and cylinders are produced to give the lowest possible friction at maximum working temperatures.
