The arrangement has an identification tag (6) for transmitting a signal (K) having an identification information to identify the tag. A surface covering structure (1) has a sensor surface with approximation or pressure sensors (3-5) and a transmitting/receiving device. The transmitting/receiving device receives the signal from the tag, and transmits information that respectively identifies the identification tag and the sensors. A central receiver (7) receives the information identifying the tag and the information identifying the sensors from the transmitting/receiving device. An independent claim is also included for a method for identifying and locating a person or an object.
