The device has a holding device (7) holding a headlight (6). A reinforcement unit (9) is indirectly connected with a body part of vehicle body (1). A retaining unit (8) is connected with the reinforcement unit in such a manner that rigid connection of the headlight is provided at the body part during normal driving condition of the motor vehicle. The retaining unit of the headlight moves against the body part by a determined force that exceeds during frontal impact. A holder breaks with exceeding of a predetermined force.
