Toy comprises a toy body, an audio unit for replaying audio effects, a memory for holding audio data, a control unit for controlling the playback of different audio effects and a sensor unit for generating detection signals which correlate with the approach of an object to the toy. The control unit reproduces the audio effects depending on the detection signals. An independent claim is also included for a method for developing an audio playback in a toy. Preferred Features: The sensor unit is structured so that the hand of the user represents the object detected by the sensor unit. Movement is evaluated in at least two spatial directions.
