The biogas production plant comprises a unit (18) for the decomposition of initial materials by impact energy, a fermentation unit, a unit for processing of fermentation remnant, a conveyor (16) for conveying the initial material to the decomposition unit, a pump (30) for conveying the decomposed initial material, a crushing unit with a rotating knife, a hygienic device (24), and a rejector (26) for impurity separation. The decomposition unit is designed for a batch-process and has a decomposition element for delivering the impact energy. An independent claim is included for a method for the production of biogas.
