The method involves directing a pre-set or pre-settable demand (22) to an operator successively for definition of individual parameters (26) of a drive system (10). A parameterization of the drive system is executed by providing inputs of the operator for a respective demand. An assistant is made to execute when the drive system is not in operation, where the execution of the assistant includes an access to a regulator (24) for conversion of the inputs of the operator. A summary of the executed parametrization is represented after processing of all demands of the assistant.
