The method involves arranging a test sample (8) whose flow rate per time unit is to be measured, with a medium (13) in a cylinder (2), where the sample flows through the cylinder and pressurization in the cylinder filled with the medium is provided by using weight placed over a piston (3). The flow rate is determined based on reclined piston stroke during a time period. The weight acting on the medium by the piston, is varied. Time period is pre-determined or the time period is measured. An independent claim is also included for a measuring arrangement for measuring smallest hydraulic flow rates, comprising a cylinder.
