The device (1) has radiation sources (8, 10) and detector systems (9, 11) movable around a system axis (6) to scan a patient (3). Each source has focuses (13, 14) from which a beam of rays (15, 16) is emittable. A mounting device (2) for the patient and the sources and/or the systems is movable relative to each other along the axis. The sources and arrays of detector elements are arranged during the scanning such that the focuses are not misaligned and the arrays are misaligned, the focuses are misaligned and the arrays are not misaligned, or the focuses and the arrays are misaligned. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a CT device.
