The device has a detector array (14) formed of linearly arranged detector elements (20) that respectively deliver output signals. The output signal of the middle element is selectively linkable with the signals of the other two adjacent elements by a controllable linking device (16). An activating and deactivating device is provided for activation and deactivation of the linking device. The linking device is provided such that a data acquisition system (19) is included in case of activation and deactivation of the respective linked output signal and the output signal of each element.
