The device has an energy management unit (11) provided for determining available absolute total capacity of the device. A charge management unit (12) is provided for adjusting a defined lower relative charging condition, and for adjusting an upper charging condition within defined time. The charge management unit decouples adjusting and/or control process of a parameter in a mode when target charging voltage corresponds to open-circuit voltage of the accumulator. A capacity measuring unit (13) determines absolute capacity in the accumulator. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining available absolute total capacity of an accumulator device of a hybrid vehicle.
