The tool (10) has a tool carrier device movable held at a machine frame (14). Workpieces are machined in a working space (52). Workpiece carriers (62, 64) are moved relative to the machine frame and are assigned to drives (68, 70), respectively. A control unit (50) controls movement of the workpiece carriers. The workpiece carrier (64) is positioned in the working space during the positioning of the workpiece carrier (62) at a load place. The workpiece carrier (62) is positioned in the working space during positioning of the workpiece carrier (64) at another load place (90). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing workpiece at a machine tool.
