The method involves sliding accommodation of a series of acceleration measured values in a time slot of a predetermined length at predetermined points in the time slot by acceleration sensors for a movement sequence guided by a patient. The series of measured values is correlated with a series of characteristics measured values for formation of a multidimensional sliding correlation function, which corresponds to front and rear movement of the patient. A movement pattern in the movement sequence of the patient is identified by determining maximum of the sliding correlation function. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for identification of a movement pattern of a patient.
