The device (VO) has a discharging unit (3) arranged adjacent to a carrier i.e. strip (1) e.g. photoconductive strip and transfer strip, where the discharging unit is embedded in a metallic profile (2), and the strip is guided over the discharging unit. The discharging unit has a discharging chamber (4), which is electrically insulated from the profile that lies at an electric potential. An ionizer (6) i.e. corotron, produces positive and negative ions, which are guided to the strip in the chamber, and the strip is reloaded with the electric potential of the profile by the ions of the ionizer.
