The cover (1) has a traction bow (3) at an end area, where two ends of the bow are movably guided into parallel guide ways (4), which lie on opposite sides of a motor vehicle. Motor-driven adjusting elements (6, 7) move the bow from a lower position to an upper position against a spring force. The bow is held in the upper position by a locking device (8). The device is mechanically coupled with the elements, so that the device is opened when the elements are moved from a third position corresponding to the lower position against a direction so as to move the bow to the upper position.
