It is an object of the optical density of the macula pigment xanthophyll at the fundus oculi without being influenced by stray light, in particular individually interfering scattered light from the front eyes media, to be able to determine reflex.According to the invention, in addition to the measurement of the reflected light from the illuminated areas of the fundus oculi the same only partially illuminated and the intensity of the accidental light from the not illuminated area of the measured. This measured value is used as a correction variable for the calculation of the optical density of the macula pigment.The invention finds application in ophthalmology.
