The roller or cylinder (10) has a base (11) with a roller-shaped or cylindrical-shaped surface (12) on which a single-layer coating (13) is applied to form an outer surface (14). Surface energy of the coating is changeable by application of electrical voltage to the coating such that hydrophilic and better humidity agent-leading and hydrophobic and badly humidity agent-leading areas are formed at the outer surface depending on the applied voltage. The coating is formed from a ceramic material such as barium titanate ceramic and barium zirconium titanate ceramic.
