Cloning, integration and expression of a gene cluster comprises preparing gene cassettes comprising sequences that mediate the transfer and integration of a flanked nucleic acid and the expression of all genes in the flanked nucleic acid, producing a recombinant transposon by linking the gene cassettes upstream and downstream of the gene cluster, introducing the transposon into a cell so that the transposon automatically integrates into the cell's genome, and expressing all of the genes of the cluster. Independent claims are also included for: (1) gene cassette for cloning a gene cluster, comprising a promoter sequence and a transposition element; (2) vector for cloning, integration and expression of a gene cluster, comprising at least one gene cassette as above; (3) cell containing a gene cassette or vector as above; (4) culture of a cell as above.
