The system has a heat exchanger (6) extracting heat from a refrigerant i.e. carbon dioxide, when the refrigerant partially exists in the heat-exchanger in a transcritical condition. Another heat-exchanger (6') i.e. plate heat exchanger, thermally connects a closed loop (5) with another closed loop (7), in which another refrigerant e.g. isobutane, is circulated such that the latter refrigerant extracts heat from the former refrigerant by the latter heat-exchanger, where the latter loop is designed as an absorption refrigerator. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a refrigerant plant.
