The locking device (1) has a locking gear (16), a motor drive (2), on which couplings (5,8) are tied up. Lever chains (18,19) are provided in an area between an actuator (18) and locking gear. The coupling has a coupling element (9) at a coupling side, and has multiple interferences (13) for coupling element. An independent claim is also included for a method for coupling of a locking gear in a vehicle door lock.
