The method involves focusing ultrasonic waves into a coupling or sample medium, measuring the waves in a form of time signals, and storing the waves at two raster points. A part of the signals is evaluated such that signal portions associated to a space point of a sample are selected from the signals based on associated ultrasonic wave running times between one raster point and the space point. The signal portions associated to the space point are added and are provided for representation. The time signals are evaluated for visualization of sample ranges present within the sample.
