Turbo engine i.e. flow retarder, operating method for use in brake system of motor vehicle, involves using gas i.e. air, as working medium, and introducing gas into work space under positive pressure during operating phases
The method involves providing a bladed, rotatably supported primary wheel (2) and a bladed secondary wheel (3), which form a torus-shaped work space (4) with one another for receiving a working medium. A gas i.e. air, is used as the working medium, and is introduced into the work space under positive pressure during operating phases, where the work space stays under positive pressure. The work space is stayed under positive pressure or at atmospheric pressure or under negative pressure in brake-free phases. An independent claim is also included for a flow retarder comprising a primary wheel.
