The method and the device serve to the energy-saving and environmentally-friendly processing of oil seeds. Waste heat from at least one process step in the production of oil is supplied to the process for preconditioning the seed used. A preheater for the oil seed is for this purpose by means of a heat exchanger with a cooler for warm press cake connected.
